Courses

What are Courses?

A course is a collection of videos aimed at teaching your child something specific. A course doesn’t have to be academic, it can be anything! E.g.

  • You want to teach your kids the “stranger danger” concept or ensure they know about safe online practices
  • You’re going skiing with your kids and want them to watch ski safety videos
  • You’re traveling to Paris, and want your kids to learn about its history before you arrive to make the trip even more memorable
  • Your child likes swimming, and maybe is part of a swim team, and you want them to watch some videos on how to improve their technique
  • etc.

Courses can be academically focused too, e.g. math, science, language arts, etc. The point is, courses can be anything you want them to be as a parent!

How to create your own course

While we did our best in creating recommended courses, we realize it’s impossible to meet the demands of all parents, so we decided to let parents create their own courses too!

Here’s a short summary on how to do it

  • go to YouTube and add videos you want to be in a course to a playlist
  • make sure the playlist’s privacy is set to “Unlisted”!
  • go to Cocopine and paste the link to this playlist. Voila! You just created a course yourself!

More details

  • Go to youtube.com and search for videos you want to be added to a course (1)
  • Add one video at a time from the search results page. Tap on the three dots to the right of the video (2)
    • [!] The search results part is critical, because YouTube doesn’t allow adding “made for kids” videos to a playlist from the video page itself (yes, agreed, this is confusing)
  • Click Save to playlist (3)

Search and add videos

  • on the pop-up click New playlist, unless you already have an existing playlist

Create Playlist

  • make sure to set Visibility to Unlisted. “Unlisted” means a playlist can be viewed only by those who have the direct link to it

Unlisted

  • once you’re done adding videos, you will need to get the link to the playlist, to do that click on Playlists on the left-hand side

Create Playlist

Voila! You’ve added your own course for your child!
